Debt is the state of owing something (especially money); Saving is an act of saving a part of your income
Many people are in bondage today because of debt and not understanding simple strategies of saving. Listed are some user friendly tips on how to come out of debt, stay debt free and save.
Debt Free Strategies:
- Pay Tithes and Offerings to God (10% - 20%). This is the most important strategy you can use. You will come out of debt and live a debt free life. Do not worry about where the money is going because if the Shepard of the ministry mismanages the money God will take care of them. I have seen ministries fall because of this. God does not play when his people are faithful in giving and serving him and are abused.
- Give (local charities, person (s) in need, etc.)
- Pay more than the required payment on bills
- Only purchase what you can afford (pay for)
- If you are using a credit card for points for free travel and items only purchase items (groceries, gas, small clothing items, meals, hair, nail and feet treatments, etc.) you can pay off within two weeks to thirty days
- Use a lay-a-way plan to purchase items
- Purchase items on sale or discount
- Purchase items from pass seasons
- Purchase items from outlets, warehouses, and internet sites
- Use coupons (they work)
- Shop at estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets, bazaars etc.
- Do not purchase items on emotions
- Use a debit card, not a credit card
Every day put in a large container (e.g. empty water cooler bottle) all of your extra change or one dollar bills. You will be amazed of how much you have saved in a six month period.
Remember no matter how hard it gets do not touch!
I put in an large (huge) glass container $1.00 and $5.00 dollar bills daily and I am excited about the totals. My goal is to put half in my savings account and use the other half for a vacation in 2011 and start all over again. It works!
Do this for six months and let us know how much debt you have eliminated or reduced, how much you have saved, and what you plan to do with your savings.
Live well and debt free
