An Important Issue: Prostate Health for Men

Prostate Health

We have provided a lot of Health & Life Tips and this topic area we have not address. A male follower ask why and I did not know what to say. One of the reason I believe we have not address this issue is because we use photos to demonstrate what we are trying to get across and we did not want to be offensive. But if being offensive will save someones life then we are ready.

The Prostate is a walnut sized gland located between the bladder and the penis.

The Prostate secretes fluid that nourishes and protects sperm. During ejaculation, the prostate squeezes this fluid into the urethra, and it's expelled with sperm as semen.

The Prostate

Male Anatomy of Reproduction: The Prostate

Black men have the highest incidence rate of Prostate Cancer in the world.
The high mortality is associated with late detection.

Immediate attention is a must!

Symptoms:
  • Frequent urge to urinate
  • Blood in urine or semen
  • Painful or burning urination
  • Difficulty in urination
  • Difficulty in having an erection
  • Painful ejaculation
  • Frequent pain or stiffness in lower back or upper thighs
  • Inability to urinate
  • Dribbling of urine

Prostate Conditions:
  • Protatitis: Inflammation of the prostate, sometimes caused by infection, can be treated by antibiotics
  • Enlarged Prostate: Called benign prostatic hypertrophy, symptoms of difficult urination, can be treated by medicines or surgery
  • Prostate Cancer: A common form of cancer in men and can be treated by surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy
Tests:
  • Digital rectal examination: A doctor inserts a lubricated, gloved finger into the rectum and feels the prostate to check for enlarge prostate, lumps or nodules of prostate cancer
  • Prostate-Specific Antigen: The testing of the protein in the prostate measured by a blood test (PSA)
  • Prostate Ultrasound: An ultrasound probe inserted into the the rectum, bringing it close to the prostate often done with a biopsy to test for prostate cancer
  • Prostate Biopsy: A needle is inserted into the prostate to take a tissue sample out of the prostate to check for cancer cells
If Prostate Cancer runs in your family start testing at 30-35 years of age.
Do not wait until you are of 50 years or older.

Prostate Cancer Treatments:
  • Prostatectomy - Surgery
  • Radiation Therapy - Radiation kills prostate cancer
  • Radioactive Seed Implants - Radioactive seed implanted into the prostate to kill cancer cells
  • Cryotherapy - Freezes cancer cells
  • Hormone Therapy - Hormone therapy helps block cancer cell growth
  • Chemotherapy - Reduces the spread of cancer cells
  • Watchful Waiting - Waiting to see if the cancer grows (older men tend to follow this regime) NOT RECOMMENDED
  • Clinical Trials - A test of new medications on cancer within the prostate
My father was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 7 years ago his PSA (blood work) was over 300 the doctor suggested various treatments and he chose surgery. The doctor stated that he had a spot the size of a pin head and it was removed. Today he is in total remission.  Early detection and treatment saved his life.

Mothers, Sisters, Daughters Please! Please! Please! share this information with a male in your life it will save his life. I have lost two uncles, a God father, and several friends to this disease.

Lets not let another man go before his time because of lack of information.
