Fungas/Athlete's Foot (Tinea Pedis) - is a common infection of the skin of the foot caused by a fungus. Tinea infections of the skin, nails, or hair caused by fungi; and pedis is the foot.
Causes of Fungus:
- Trichophyton mentagrophytes (blisters)
- Trichonphyton rubrum
- Damp shoes and socks
- Person-to person contact
- Cuts, cracks and sores on the feet
Symptoms:
- Itching and burning between the toes or on the soles
- Redness
- Blisters
- Inflammed skin
What it looks like:
On top of the foot - red patches with scabs
Between the toes - scaly, splitting skin
On the sole of the foot - red skin with scales
