Health Tip - Bitter Melon (bitter gourd)

The Bitter Melon is a vegetable-fruit that helps improve diabetic and toxemia conditions.

The Bitter Melon looks like a cucumber with ugly gourd-like bumps.
It is pale green and oblong in shape.

  The Nutritional Benefits of the Bitter Melon are:
  • Low calories
  • Excellent source of Vitamins B1, B2 and B3, C, Magnesium, Folic acid, Zinc, Phosphorus, Manganese, and Dietary fiber.
  • Rich in iron
  • Twice the Beta carotene of broccoli
  • Twice the calcium of Spinach
  • Twice the potassium of a banana

This vegetable - fruit  thrives in hot and humid climates and are found in Asian countries and South America.

When ripe it turns a reddish-orange and becomes more bitter.

  • Blood disorders - treats blood boils and itching due to toxemia
  • Cholera - early stages
  • Diabetes mellitus - lowers sugar level in blood and urine

  • Eye problems - improves eyesight
  • Hangover - helps cleanse, repair and nourish liver problems due to alcohol consumption
