Every day someone is asking us to provide more information on topics that we have briefly talked about. I met a woman this weekend who stated " I don't need that M thing, I heard it hurts." I was shocked but not surprise of the lack of comprehending the information that was received.
The Mammogram Test is a life saver for women throughout the world. Women are loosing their breast daily because of misinformation and lack of resources.
Today let's celebrate our "Breast."
A few nuggets of information on " The Mammogram"
- An examination of the breast using X-ray technology to aid in the early detection of breast cancer:
- The breast is compressed by a machine to increase image quality (last a few seconds)
- Images are taken on the front and sides of the breast and then captured on film for medical evaluation
- Start clinical breast exams at least every 3 years staring at 20, and every year starting at 40
- Schedule a Mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk ( I started at 30 because of the high death rate of female family members)
- A self examination should be conducted monthly to check for lumps, nipple discharge, or changes in size or shape of the breast
Breast Cancer is a malignant (cancerous) growth that begins in the tissues of the breast.
Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells grow in an uncontrolled way.
